Question the World?
Why do you park in a driveway and drive on a park way? Why does
Starkist Tuna have Charlie Tuna promote the eating of his own kind?
Why do they call it a pair of pants? Shouldn't it be a pair of
pant? Why do you always have one sock less when you fold your
laundry even though you know you didn't leave it in the washer or
dryer or lose it on the way? So why do nice guys always date witchy
women? Why do we rely on rich politicians to make decisions for the
common man? Why is it that rich people get everything given to them
for free? I could go on and on.....
This group is for anyone who ever questions the world. It can be something that just confuses you, something that makes you laugh, something that makes you passionate, or something that just makes you mad. Come share your thoughts and ask the questions that you want to know the answers to and even answer questions for others.
Thank you for joining!

Are going management and members obsessed with alcohol? + -
Many worthy social and cultural events are not given "editors' picks" distinction.
The emphesis on alcohol probably has to do with money, going's advertisers are primarily bars and clubs, and club culture.
I submit this new venue and the Going employee's "buzz" - http://boston.going.com/venue-144724;... - post as "proof" (pardon the pun).

Those must be some exquisite green olives! Either that, or PT Barmum was right, a sucker is born every minute.

What's a good alternative to Going.com? + -

As far as alternatives go, a bunch of folks jumped over to Facebook. If you want to find another social networking site to find events and a sense of community (although no real chat there either) try meetup.com. When I moved to Seattle, I landed on meetup and it's pretty good. Pretty much anything you want to do, there is a meetup for it - happy hours, singles, new to town, hiking, kayaking, dining out, wine tastings, cultural sh!t, and most importantly, beer meerups - at least that is the scene in Seattle - not sure how the boston scene is, but I'd guess not much different.
...but check out Facebook first. I can send a couple of links privately if you like.

However, I don't find the groups here aren't as appealing as on Facebook. Maybe the older versions were better, but I wouldn't know that.
Why don't you start some topics?

Thanks for your comments. With the updates we released on Monday, we were trying to strongly support groups.
Specifically:
1) The new City Buzz element on the home page. Take a look at the home page, you will see that your post (and mine) in this group are featured right at the top of the home page on the left side.
This is the first time that we are featuring talk from all across the site so high on the home page.
So, hopefully that should greatly contribute to the visibility and activity in groups.
2) Groups are now featured in the very first navigation menu, Things to Do. They have their own section, it is in bold, and includes access to both browsing groups and My Groups.
We are always interested in your thoughts on these, and other things you would like to see.
Regards,
Roy

Subsequent to the 5/20 site redesign there was a lot of bitching and moaning in QTW, but no constructive ideas were made.
Instead, people voted with their feet and stopped participating.
That group posts (public, not private, I would hope) appear on the home page in "buzz" shows management supports groups. The blame for decreased participation lies squarely with group members and owners / administrators, many of whom are AWOL.

p.s. to everyone: Facebook really sucks.
but yeah, going hid alot of talk and groups so, it really slowed traffic down.
